FAGONEX at MTL-SONO 2026: Supporting Hands-On POCUS Education in Montreal

FAGONEX was proud to support MTL-SONO 2026, a two-day point-of-care ultrasound educational conference held September 19–20 at Jewish General Hospital in Montreal. Across five practical stations, participants had the opportunity to gain hands-on scanning experience using Sono Mobile® wireless handheld ultrasound systems in a focused educational environment.

Two Days Dedicated to Point-of-Care Ultrasound Education

Hosted by the McGill Ultrasound Interest Group (MUSIG), MTL-SONO brings together medical trainees, residents, instructors and ultrasound educators for an immersive program combining focused lectures with hands-on point-of-care ultrasound training.

The 2026 program covered a broad range of core POCUS applications, including lung ultrasound, intraperitoneal free fluid assessment, gallbladder imaging, first-trimester pregnancy, cardiac views, inferior vena cava assessment, abdominal aortic aneurysm evaluation and deep vein thrombosis scanning.

Bringing Handheld Ultrasound Into Practical POCUS Training

Hands-on practice is an essential part of learning point-of-care ultrasound. During MTL-SONO 2026, Sono Mobile® handheld ultrasound systems were incorporated into five practical stations, giving participants an opportunity to scan in the type of portable, point-of-care environment in which handheld ultrasound is designed to operate.

Wireless ultrasound can help create a flexible training environment: learners can work directly at the bedside without depending on a traditional cart-based system for every scanning station. This makes handheld systems particularly relevant to POCUS education and to clinical settings where portability and rapid access to imaging are important.

Supporting the Next Generation of POCUS Education

For FAGONEX, participation in MTL-SONO 2026 was about more than demonstrating ultrasound technology. It was an opportunity to support an educational initiative centered on practical scanning, knowledge exchange and greater access to point-of-care ultrasound training.

We were pleased to see Sono Mobile® systems used in an environment where learners could interact directly with handheld ultrasound technology and develop greater familiarity with portable bedside imaging.

We sincerely thank the MTL-SONO and MUSIG teams, instructors, volunteers and participants who contributed to the two-day program. FAGONEX looks forward to continuing to support hands-on ultrasound education and collaborative POCUS initiatives in Canada.
